Warning & Legal Compliance

Our products, including portal axles, heavy-duty bumpers, differential skids, off-road light mounts, rock sliders, and spare tire carriers are designed for closed-course competition and off-road use only. They may not comply with local, state, or federal Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations or Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS). The buyer assumes 100% responsibility for verifying that the installation and use of these aftermarket parts comply with all applicable local vehicle codes and laws prior to operation on public roads.

Assumption of Risk/Vehicle Modification

Installing portal axles alters your vehicle's factory suspension, track width, and center of gravity, which increases the risk of vehicle rollover, mechanical failure, or altered handling characteristics.

Our portal axles, heavy-duty bumpers, differential skids, off-road light mounts, rock sliders, and spare tire carriers modify structural components and may interfere with factory safety systems, including but not limited to crumple zones, parking sensors, and airbag deployment triggers. By purchasing, installing, or using these products, you explicitly acknowledge these risks and agree that you are using them at your own risk.

Professional Installation Required

All products must be installed by a certified automotive technician experienced with off-road suspension and structural modifications. Failure to have parts professionally installed voids any applicable warranties and may result in hardware failure, property damage, severe injury, or death. The purchaser is solely responsible for inspecting all parts, welds, bolts, and brackets for proper torque and wear before use.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Couch Off Road Engineering shall not be held liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages (including but not limited to vehicle damage, damage to other components, personal injury, loss of life, loss of vehicle use, or legal fines) resulting from the proper or improper installation, use, or failure of our portal axles, bumper, light bar, differential skids, rock sliders, and tire storage mounts. In no event shall our total aggregate liability exceed the actual purchase price paid for the specific product(s) causing the alleged damage.

Warranty Information

At Couch Off Road Engineering, we don't just install off-road gear—we also build it. Because we are both a manufacturer and an installation shop, our warranty is broken down by who made the product and how it was installed.

Couch Off Road Engineering Manufactured Products

Structural & Welds: We offer a Limited Lifetime Warranty to the original purchaser against cracking, buckling, or failure of welds or structural steel under normal operational use.

Finish (Powder Coat/Paint): Covered for 1 Year against premature flaking or peeling. This does not cover rust or peeling caused by rock chips, trail scrapes, or road salt.

*Please note: Cosmetic damage, bending, or scratching resulting from direct impact with terrain or obstacles is considered normal trail wear, not a manufacturing defect.

Third-Party Products (Other Brands)

For components manufactured by outside brands but sold/installed by us (e.g., lighting, winches, specific axle components): The product is covered strictly by the original manufacturer’s warranty. We will gladly help you facilitate a claim if we supplied the part, but the final coverage decision rests with them.

Installation & Workmanship Warranty

Regardless of who made the part, if we installed it, we guarantee our labor for 1 Year or 12,000 miles (whichever comes first). This covers loose hardware, improper wiring connections, or faulty alignment during installation.

What is Strictly Excluded:

  • Trail Damage & Abuse: Dents, gouges, snaps, or bends caused by collisions, rolling the vehicle, rock bashing, racing, or extreme off-road abuse.

  • Downstream Vehicle Failures: We do not cover wear and tear on your vehicle's factory drivetrain, steering, or body components caused by adding heavy-duty aftermarket modifications (such as portal axles or oversized tires).

  • Customer-Supplied Parts: If you bring us parts bought elsewhere, we offer zero warranty on the parts or the labor to install them.

*Note on Maintenance: Heavy off-road components settle. To maintain your workmanship warranty, you must bring your vehicle back to our shop for a complimentary 500-mile post-install inspection and re-torque.
